Haïti-Technologie: plus de synergie pour des télécentres durables

La Fundación Taigüey, l’Association Haitienne des TIC (AHTIC) et du Groupe Médialternatif (GM) organisaient récemment un atelier de réflexion sur la durabilité des télécentres en Haïti.

Les télécentres sont comme des cybercafés. Ils permettent à ses utilisateurs un accès collectif aux nouvelles technologies de l'information. Ils sont appellés à jouer un rôle majeur dans le développement socio-économique d'Haiti.

Le problème principal est qu'ils sont confrontés à d'importantes difficultés financières qui mettent en péril leur viabilité. Aussi, ils rencontrent de nombreux problèmes de maintenance, de connexion à internet et d’électricité.

Face à ces difficultés, le réseau des télécentres cherche à mettre en commun leurs ressources.

Un des constats sortis des échanges entre animateurs des télécentres en Haïti est que l’identité et le rôle des télécentres ne sont pas toujours bien connus par la population. Ils envisagent de mettre sur pied des campagnes de sensibilisation et de vulgarisation de la notion de télécentre.

La majorité des télécentres mettent l’emphase sur les jeunes qui constituent leur population cible. Mais certaines structures se sont au départ créées pour des pêcheurs, comme à Arcahaie, ou des caféiculteurs à Fond Jean Noël, même s’ils sont accessibles à tous.
